On September 4th, 2015, over 120 professional cyclists from around the world raced their way through Jasper National Park as part of the 3rd annual The Tour of Alberta presented by ATB Financial, Canada’s first and highest ranked professional road cycling race. Jasper hosted two legs as the first ever mountain stage of the race, reminding everyone that our base of adventure a premier cycling destination!
A Route for Every Bike
Road biking: Ride in the tracks of the Tour of Alberta pros and complete the Marmot Basin Legacy Climb: 12 km up to an elevation of over 1,600 metres. Looking for something a little more leisurely? Head down to Old Fort Point, down around Lac Beauvert and back into town via Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Mountain biking: The Jasper Discovery Trail, aka Trail 11, is an 8.3km loop that will take you completely around the town site with a good mix of paved trails and gravel hills. Or, you can get into the wild on the Saturday Night Lake Loop. Expect a technical ride full of steep switch-backs with a highly rewarding finish!
Fat biking: There’s something for every level of fat bike rider on the Pyramid Bench. Over 10km of trails twist and snake between town and Pyramid Lake, giving you lots to explore. Bonus: fat bikes are permitted on frozen lakes, giving you a whole new way to see your favourite parks of Jasper National Park.
